Life Insurance

Arizona's Choice Insurance provides one of the most basic insurance needs - life insurance. Your parents probably purchased life insurance for you when you were a child and teen, but you need to do so yourself as an adult. As young as your 20s, you should carry life insurance. You can choose from two main types of life insurance: term and whole.

Term Policies

You'll get coverage for a specific number of years with term insurance as long as you pay the premiums. This type of policy works better for a younger person because it covers you in your youth. A decreasing term policy pays out less as you age, but premiums never increase. A level term policy pays out the same regardless of the time during the term. You can choose various term lengths of five, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years.

Whole Policies

With a whole life policy, also called a permanent life insurance policy, you can obtain a policy that lasts your entire life as long as you keep up the premiums. This is the life policy most businesses provide in benefits packages.

Permanent coverage offers many options, including universal life, universal life with a cash-value account, variable life, and variable universal life. Accounts with a cash value account include both the death benefit and a savings account. The savings account is tied to either a money market account or an investment account. Once the account matures, you can borrow against it or withdraw money from it. You can start with a term policy, then segue to a permanent policy when you age. The transition typically occurs in your 50s.
